HB 2245 proposes a new law to direct how long or wide vehicles approach and use roundabouts.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Andrew Barkis (R–Olympia), provides that a vehicle longer than 40 feet or wider than ten feet can leave the lane of travel as it approaches or moves through a roundabout, if necessary. HB 2245 also includes language requiring such vehicles to yield to any vehicles coming from the left if both vehicles arrive at a similar time, in order to avoid a collision.

A companion bill in the Senate, SB 6084, is sponsored by Sen. Dean Takko (D–Longview).
