When will the Labor Relations Institute take place?

The conference will take place May 8-10. All sessions will be held in person at the Yakima Convention Center.

What time are scheduled events taking place?

Refer to the conference schedule to see when specific events are taking place. All session times are PDT.

How do I register for the conference?

Registration for the conference is open now. Check out this video to learn how to register for an event.

Can I pay with a credit card?

If you pay with a credit card, your billing address must match your address in the registration process. If it does not, add a new address that matches—otherwise your payment will be declined. You also have the option to ask for an invoice.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

Upon registration, you will be able to email the registration confirmation to your email account or to multiple email accounts.

How can I access conference materials?

  • All materials will be available through the LRI conference app prior to the event, included in registration fees.
  • An optional materials binder is also available to registered conference attendees, with printed slides and handouts for all LRI sessions. This optional binder is available for advance purchase through April 19, 2024, and can be added during the registration process.

If a governing body attends a training session, is it a public meeting subject to the OPMA?

MRSC has advice on attending trainings, and you should always consult with your city attorney on questions about the OPMA.

Can I share registration with a co-worker?

No. The registration fee includes access to the conference for one person. Badge sharing or splitting is strictly prohibited.

If I cancel my conference registration, can I get a refund?

Registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by April 8. A refund of the full fee, minus a $75 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date. Submit all requests to registration@awcnet.org.

AWC regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted! The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution.

Conference badge sharing is strictly prohibited. In the event that the Labor Relations Institute is cancelled, or any portion of the event is cancelled, we will make every attempt to notify you.

What can I expect at the exhibit hall?

Labor Relations Institute sponsor and exhibit booths will be set up throughout the convention center.

Can I earn continuing education credits for attending the conference?

Upon completion of the conference, elected officials will automatically receive 7 credits towards the Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) in the roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements competency area.

AWC has applied for HR Certification Institute (HRCI) credits for the conference and early start sessions. Once notification of approval has been received, we will update this information.

AWC has applied for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certified Professional Recertification Credits for the conference and early start sessions. Once notification of approval has been received, we will update this information.

AWC has applied for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit from the Washington State Bar Association for the conference and early start sessions. Once notification of approval has been received, we will update this information.

Menus

If you have a special dietary need, please inform the staff at the registration kiosk at least two hours prior to a meal event. You will receive a special meal ticket to present to your server at the event. Unless prior arrangements are made, the serving staff will not be able to accommodate special requests. Menus for specific meals or events are posted near the AWC Registration Kiosk.

How do I make hotel reservations?

How can I request disability accommodations?

The Labor Relations Institute strives to provide accessible educational opportunities for all individuals, including those with disabilities. Please contact Gina Abram at AWC, 360-753-4137, at least seven business days prior to the conference if any disability accommodations are needed. For TDD users, please use the state’s toll-free relay service, 800-833-6388, and ask the operator to dial the AWC numbers.

Parking

Parking at the Yakima Convention Center is free.
