WAPELRA Fall Conference

The WAPELRA Fall Conference is specifically designed to help public sector HR professionals and other practitioners involved in labor relations obtain legal updates, build skills and develop resources. In addition to a great line-up of educational sessions, the conference is an excellent opportunity to network and learn from your colleagues who are facing the same issues as you.

  • Human resources and labor relations professionals who represent management in cities, counties, special districts and state agencies.
  • City clerks, supervisors, managers, administrators and department heads who deal with personnel and labor issues.

Back by popular demand – WAPELRA is offering a pre-conference workshop on Wednesday afternoon! Join Dr. John Sullivan, an internationally know HR thought-leader specializing in strategic talent management, for a three hour session that will change the mindset and provide a toolkit of easy to implement solutions for improved recruiting and retention results for public agencies. This session will also cover the challenges that HR professionals are having nationwide in recruiting law enforcement and public safety candidates.

Non-members – $90

The conference kicks off with a Welcome Reception from 5:30 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 18.

The main conference program starts at 8:30 am Thursday, September 19, and ends at noon on Friday, September 20.

NPELRA Labor Relations Academy III – The negotiation process
Wednesday, September 18, 8 am – 4 pm

WAPELRA is pleased that NPELRA is offering its Labor Relations Academy III in conjunction with the WAPELRA Fall Conference this year. This session is part of NPELRA's innovative teaching program leading to professional certification as a Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP). This NPELRA event requires a separate registration fee ($299 for NPELRA members, $399 for non-members). Lodging


This year’s Fall Conference will be held at the Kitsap Conference Center. WAPELRA has reserved a block of sleeping rooms for the nights of September 17, 18, and 19 at two hotels for negotiated rates. The room block fills up quickly.

Hotel changes/cancellations
Guests are responsible for paying for their own accommodations. All changes and cancellations must be made directly with the hotel. The hotel must receive notice of cancellation at least 72 hours prior to the arrival date and a cancellation number must be obtained by the guest to avoid penalty charges for one night stay.

WAPELRA is not responsible for any penalty or no-show charges.
