LRILogoWoman1005 takeaways from the Governor’s COVID-19 briefing with city and county leaders
On July 20, AWC hosted a COVID-19 briefing webinar with Governor Inslee, Secretary of Health Wiesman, State Health Officer Dr. Lofy, and city and county leaders from around the state. Reminder: Complete Tax and User Fee Survey (TUFS) before July 31!
TUFS is a crucial resource for many cities. This vital survey data serves as a reference tool for cities in municipal budget negotiations, as a comparison against peer cities, and as an information hub when a city applies for grants and loans. Contact Maggie Douglas if you need assistance completing your city’s survey.

ESD announces change to 2020 benefit charges
On July 9, Congress unanimously passed the Protecting Nonprofits from Catastrophic Cash Flow Strain Act of 2020. Once enacted, the bill reduces unemployment benefit charges for cities that are designated as reimbursable employers by 50% for part of the first quarter and all remaining quarters of 2020. The new bill will replace a system established under the CARES Act that provided reimbursable employers with a 50% refund of unemployment benefit charges, but only after reimbursable employers paid 100% of billed unemployment benefits up front. Find details about the change in this letter sent to employers by Employment Security Department Commissioner Suzi LeVine.
