AWC Center for Quality Communities scholarships are now available for outstanding young leaders in Washington's cities and towns. Your city can nominate one young leader who plans to attend college or a trade school this fall. Six $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in May. Nominations are due March 8. First cutoff passes – Now it's time to start talking about the budget
The first cutoff deadline passed, and soon the action will move to the floor. Read our hot sheet of bills we are tracking this week. Also learn about a projected budget shortfall and the Governor's suggested new revenue sources. We drafted a letter for legislators and budget leaders outlining and highlighting our budget priorities. Use it to reach out to your legislators and let them know what to include—before it's too late. More  

  • AWC testifies in opposition to pension bill. More   
  • Accessory dwelling unit (ADU) bills diverge in the House and the Senate. We still oppose the Senate version, but support the House version that got voted out of committee. More

Do you supervise CDL employees, transit or gas utility workers, or any employee who might consult on a reasonable suspicion determination? Do your supervisors know what to do when an employee seems intoxicated or gets in an auto accident? These situations can be tricky. Make sure all supervisors at your jurisdiction are properly trained with this training that meets U.S. DOT supervisory regulations.
